I've had one for over six months now.

I bought one last last summer. It is run from a ball mount at the the drivers rear corner, on the bed of a mid-sized pickup. I use a heavy-duty quick disconnect. I also use a heavy duty three inch coil spring to absorb road vibration. It has 18 feet of RG58u. Nothing is fancy. I installed it, dropped the whip all the way down. 1.6 flat on all 40. This antenna has been iced. The screws are not rusting. The RX is quiet. It will pick up DX well. The 102 whip is better on RX, but the trade off is height. The Browning 78 will not bash light fixtures. I am sure opions exist about a 1.6 SWR in 2012. I am running a stock CB 5 watts swing to 24 with an antenna mounted on a pickup truck bed with a ball mount. Great 40.00 investment for a work vehicle. Buy the spring and heavy quick disconnect. Unhook it to go into areas where it may get hit hard.

Browning is the best open coil I ever used. Very low swr close to 1.1 even better dare I say than the wilson antennas. The open coil does alot for this antenna. Dare I say the receive is even a bit better on this antenna than my wilson 1000. there is more metal here tho and a open coil to boot that helps alot. I ran a three magnet base with mine and it worked great. Antenna is very wide banded. suitable for 10/11 meters and 12/15 with a tuner. Great antenna
