You will have to excuse the ham guy, you can call them pills. For the most part you need to repair the amp with the same pills it came with. There are other parts and windings that would need to be changed to make it work. With amplifiers if you need mopowa get a bigger amp.

Butcher ....

He dosn't have to excuase me it has become common to change names and refure to parts and devices by some slang name.

The list goes on ..... POUNDS not S units .....

The problem is when he is talking to people who are above this slang he will be looked at as at least unknolegeable ....

Now those who feel they don't need to use correct terms fine just don't come back and talk about the look that ham just gave you ........

I'm also a ham but in the CB world, transistors are referred to as pills. I won't look at anybody any different if they use the term "pill". It's a pissing match not worth getting in to. By the way, what does "people above the slang" mean?

PLEASE don't think i'm attacking anyone ....
localized slang is fine however becomes a problem when you venture outside of that group .....

My point is just like POUNDS not s units it is not the correct term for the part it is not a pissing match but if you read the ham radio remailers like QRZ what is the first thing you see them attack ?

I wish him and any other only the best and to have the most fun with what ever radio they are using however the use of correct terms goes along way toward allowing anyone who wants to advance into ham radio to be more accepted right from the start.

Remember what a 807 was ......... but it was used in JEST .....

I started on CB almost 50 years ago when I was very young and my dad bought a CB RADIO KIT from Knight kit for me to build and he got the license to use it was a REGEN receiver with one ch crystal installed.
So I have been on CB almost from the start ... and got my first ham license in the mid 60's along the way I have mentored others drawing on what i have learned and tring to help others to advance in the world of radio ....

There are many books covering everything you might need to know from the ARRL and others

BTW ....... 807 is a TRANSMITTING TUBE the 1625 was the military ver used in WW2

Large tubes were called bottles ( in JEST ) and a 807 was used to meen a BEER bottle .....
