Ok, got Sparky's custom Cobra 25 installed along with a Wilson 5000 roof mount. Everything is great, except engine whine that follows the rpms. Good news is when I disconnect the antenna there is no change (the noise continues). So, I need a good filter for the power line. Would you recommend the 20amp inline power cord filter that Sparky has on his site???

you know, I have that problem as well and have been just too lazy to correct it.

a320ca,

You need to give Al a call on this one. RF Limited makes a highly regarded power cord with 25 amp filter inline. Two ferrite cores on your existing power cord may fix the problem. Al will know the best fix for the big gun Cobra.

Gonna try some Ferrite cores first on the power lines, then if needed I'll try the RF Limited power cord with inline filter. Since disconnecting the antenna makes no difference I'm guessing it's ok (may put some Ferrite cores on the coax anyway)...

you know in the olden days of cb (60's70's) we diddnt
have all the noise limiters , so we ran some coax
directly from the battery to the cb power cord.

the shield was negative, the center was pos.
no more engine noise,,,,period

just my 2 cents
