Call Sparky about a 12 volt power supply to make sure you get one with enough amperage output. ----------

If you know the maximum amperage draw, you could run to Radio Shack and get their 25-amp power supply. It's around $100. If it requires more than that, call Sparky on Monday for one of those Pyramid power supplies. I use the 52-amp version to power my Texas Star DX-500V. ---------- "... it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go."

Johnny, The 1-4 watts is the dead key input from the CB. Typically if you bought and amp that outputs 150 watts. It will have two final transistors that are rated apx. at 100 watts output each. The conversion is 100 watts output needs 10 AMPS. So, you will need a power supply that will outpot at least 20 AMPs for your amplifer and 5 amps for your radio. You aleardy have an power supply for your radio. First, your will need a 20 AMP power supply for your AMP. Second you will need to have your Cobra 29 retuned and aligned to have the dead key set to 2 watts or you will burn out the amp. You will also need to have the standing wave ratio of your antenna system below 1.3 consistantly before you use the amp or your will burn out the amp. A good antenna system and a properly turned radio is better than a bad antenna and a big radio. You are going to need to talk to Al for a power supply. Whoever sold you the mobile AMP should have told you you need a 20 AMP power supply to run it. What brand or amplifer did you buy? Secret Squirrel

The Kl300p is a nice little amplifier for you to run. It is a 2 pill with 1446 finals, you will need a power supply rated at 20 amps or higher. Radio Shack power supplys are very expensive for what you get. Here is the link from Sparky so you can see. http://www.sparkyscbshack.com/powersupplies.html Make sure your radio has a dead key of 1.5-2 watts and you should be good to go. Too much dead key will cause the amp to run hot, over drive it, and shorten the life. Make SURE your antenna is properly set before you power up the amplifier. If the SWR is too high once again, your amplifier will go POOF.

I looked up where you saw the sale on 58.00 Hobby Lobby brand power supplys. It looks like any other generic power supply. The online reviews were favorable for that brand. I would recommend you spend the extra 20.00 and get the 30 AMP model so you have some extra power available. Your power microphone does not draw power from the CB's power supply, so it has nothing to do will the amount of AMPS the CB will use. It is probably best that you stop and see Al. Explain that you want to do everything right from the start and ask for Sparky's advice. Please do not try to key over people with the addition power from the RM-Italy amp you just bought. There will always be someone on the channel who can, "flip a switch and dim the lights in there house when he or she keys up." You'll be very let down when someone calls you a mudduck and everyone in three states hears it. Just my advice. Secret Squirrel

You may want to do a lil' more checking on the Hobby power supply,,,, sure they have the amperage,,,, but are they made for radio use, or for battery charging ,,, they do mention that in the description ? Power supplies designed for radio use may have specific capacitors and such to reduce noise, and keep output voltage stable. Plus 2 of the power supplies listed are not even in stock,,,, bottom line,,,, get one from Sparky,,, why take a chance on some odd-ball/no-name item when Sparky has what you need ???????????? ----------

A 22 amp will work, a 30 would be better. Will you be running the radio and amp off the same power supply? If so go with a 30 amp supply or run the amplifier on a Low or Med setting so it won't draw the max amperage.
