Hello I am a newbie to this site and an old timer that has been away from CBing for years! I want to build a customized briefcase (dimensions are 17 7/8"x11 1/2"x4 1/8")full of the following radios! I want to have a good, reliable, compact high-powered CB radio plus a rugged, compact, powerful VHF radio along with a miniature antenna that will fit inside the briefcase along with coax, power cables etc.Can anyone tell me of the type of compact CB,VHF radio plus the right type of antenna I should be looking for?? Please email me your comments as well if you prefer! You're probably going to have to use two different antennas due to the different lengths needed to be resonant on 2m and 11m. A quarter wave on 2m is 19" (give or take) and a quarter wave on 11m is 102" (give or take) You're going to be hard pressed to get one antenna to work on both bands. You might look into two coaxially fed dipoles...one for 11m and one for 2m. You could roll them up and "maybe" fit them into the briefcase you have the radios in. Just a thought. preacherman

The Aluminium Box Company makes a briefcase type slipseat box that can hold two radios with the mounting hardware and speakers. You could set up mag mount antennas that are tunes well for you vehicle. Sparky has a Skythumper VHF mag mount on the site and a Lil Wil CB mag mount will tune well. 19 inch 2 meter and a 31 inch Lil Wil would not be that bulky to pack in a vehicle. Sparky may have the briefcase in stock. This type of briefcase setup will get pricey real quick. Secret Squirrel
