help: i have a sparky tuned rci 2980, TS 350hd, antron99 about 35ft high, was working unreal on rx and tx very clean. went to lake erie to fish for 4 days, came back and have lots of static and fuzz. i cant even hear my buddies 8 miles away, they still throw 9 pounds on my meter but can hardly hear them. I can still transmit perfect loud and clear, just no ears. i took my radio to a guys house i know and it worked perfect on transmit and receive on his antenna, so its not the radio. bought new jetstream JT2213 RGU213 coax still same problem. I have bypassed all my jumpers meters and bencher filter. still same problem. my brother said we had a storm but hardly any lighting, being able to transmit loud but have lots of noise level on receive end could it possibly be the antron99, being able to transmit and not receive. but like i said my buddies are still throwing 9 pounds on my meter. All my equipment is grounded to a bus bar, and antenna mast is also grounded, brought my mobile in out of the truck and did same thing. hope its the antron99, is it possible? Thanks SkyJacker in the buckeye state

It could be the "storm" did some things to the power line equipment near your house,,, damaged insulator, which causes the phase to track, or could be a small tree limb arching on phase,,could be many things. Try sitting in your drive with your car am dash radio,,, off channel,,,, on the lower end of band, or do the same with an am radio in the house,,, see if you here any interference. If so, check your house electrical devices. Motion lights, dimmers, flashlight-shaver or other wall outlet chargers, door bell transformers can all of a sudden cause radio/TV interference. But you may be correct about your Antron,,,, if you hear no noise on your mobile radio in drive, but do when put mobile radio in the house,,,almost need to find a buddy with an extra base antenna to borrow, and stick on a fence post to see if you still get noise. Did you do an SWR check on the Antron ?

Hey bubba, thanks , when i put the 213 coax in swr 1.7 on 20, 1.3 on 1, 2.0 on 40, and when i ajusted tunning rings either direction no change in swr. thats why i think it my be my antron. everything in house seems fine but i will try the am radio thing. even plugged my rci in different outlets, including a very expensive monster cable power outlet that cleans up everything in the power source that i have my hd plasma tv plugged into. man this whole thing has me stumped. i ordered a coily enforcer .64 probably i have more money than sense lol. but lets hope that helps. i will keep you posted and thanks a million for the comeback and input. if you have any more ideas let me know. THANKS, SKYJACKER

Glad to help,, dura,,,, maybe it is your antenna,,, I worked for CommEd here in Illinois, and had to do some radio and TVI investigations,,,, really sucks,, so many things can cause "noise". I have a noisy power line[s] in front of my house,, been noisy for 30 years,,,,, never could get any fixes done,, even with me being the local trouble-shooter. Mostly ota tv reception had noise and sparkles, but everyone now has dish tv, so that problem stopped being a problem. Some days I get 3 to 5 of "crap" on my Saturn,,,, most days almost none.

Good Luck !

[good time to upgrade to an Imax 2000 to replace the ole' 99.]

Try this on the spouse, just keep a straight face,,, "but dear, my old antenna is ruined, could set the house on fire, that is why I need to replace it". ['gulp']

There is another possibility. Maybe you ticked off the wrong neighbors with bleedover, or another cb'er is mad at you. Someone can take and old 5 dollar cb, clip afew things inside and solder the mic pluig so it's keyed up all the time. They then snap a 9 volt battery in and duct tape the whole thing up. You throw it in the gutter or shrubs at your house and you have a interference jamming device. I hope you follow what I am saying.

hey butcher318 lol i know what your saying, but ive talked with all my neibors no problem with tvi, i dont run my power very often and when i do its not much power. my 2 inline bencher ya1 filters work very well along with my clean sparkified rci 2980. my neibors are all pretty cool with me and told me they would let me know if there was any tvi problems. none yet. all our power lines and tv lines are burried under ground around here, that helps some. as for other cbers we all get along around here very well no hash and trash on our channel. sounds like you have had to set someone strait before lmao. besides wouldnt the 9 volt battery soon die. but hey thanks for the input you and bubba are very much help on this forum and i have learned alot from you guys. i still need to mount my 102" whip on my truck when i get new mobile from sparky

With underground utilities you greatly reduce the chance of power line interference,, but you can still get some from devices in the pad mount transfomer. [tub] But that is rare.

It very well could be a device in your home or a close neighbor's. You can try turning off all your breakers, and then find one with very little on it, turn it on and plug your radio in that circuit, if radio is clear, then turn on breakers until noise comes back, then try to zero in the problem device. Or,,,, if you can,,, turn off your main breaker, and kill the whole house,, and connect the Antron to your radio in your vehicle, if it is clear, turn on main and see if noise comes back, then switch off breakers one at a time to see which circuit has the noise.

At least it does not cost you any $ to do this testing,,, but it may be a wild goose chase.

Hey Bubba thanks ill try each breaker. the only thing above ground around here is the big high power lines about 2 blocks away that are about 200 ft in the air and they have never caused any problems. the am radio made a ton of noise around my plasma tv but i unpluged it and i still have very little receive. its weird i can transmit loud and clear but when my buddies key up they still throw 9 pounds on me but i cant hear them from the snow and fuzzy sound. i ordered that coily enforcer.64 base antenna like i said more money than sense lol but im hoping its my antron sinse the swr wont hardley tune with the tunning rings, maybe part of the 1/2 wave is bad. well i will try all my breakers and see if that narrows it down. hey dayton power and light put new electric meters at my house and my next door neibors house so they dont have to go in our fenced in back yards to read the meters, they just walk by and scan them with there box they carry, But i had this problem before they put the new meters in. but anyway thanks a bunch i will try my breakers and see if that makes a diffrent. thanks for all your help, SkyJacker
