Good evening from Canada.

I have not heard any skip in close to 4 weeks now. Not even any of the BOWL on ch.6

I wanted to check in with you guys to see if conditions are any better in your neck of the woods.

For the last few months I been talking to lots of US stations all along the East coast as well as Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois and Alabama to name a few.

Have any of you guys had better luck Dx'ing. Let me know what's up

Take care,

((( FRiZZ )))

No conditions here in over a month. Prior to that, it was rolling in everyday, almost too much. It made talking locally a challenge.

The Bahamas were rolling pretty good yesterday (Wednesday) here in Virginia.....other than that its been a lil here and a lil there....except for that Big Joe...The big boy with the big toys down in the Florida.....even though I'd have to vote him jerk of the decade he has a way of creating DX....LOL.....I have been having really good luck on my mobile talking 100 - 200 mile distance around 8 to 9 pm on my mobile on AM the past couple weeks.

The possible reason for bad to no skip, same here in SoCal,
is because the sun spot activity is very low right now.
There was been some news on the sun latley on the radio and I would think easy to find stuff about this on the internet.
I heard an Oragon station tonite about 8:00 p.m. PST and then faded out.

I guess the situation is not unique to me.

My only solution then would be to pray to the SUN GODS !!!

Quote from NASA web site:

"The sun is now near the low point of its 11-year activity cycle," says Hathaway. "We call this 'Solar Minimum.' It is the period of quiet that separates one Solar Max from another."

Some interesting reading here:

It's like someone turned off the radio waves! Nothin up here in NorCal. Maybe just a couple of stations trying to skip but they fade out real quick.

There is a minor "E" season in mid-December but this is not as strong as the summer skip season.

Question, do you need to be on SideBand to hear skip? if not is there a particular channel to be on? Kinda weird but today here in NorCal, i was on Local company channel 22 and i turn my receive on my amp and i can hear a radio station down in Florida, heard something like 12 meter radio, couldnt really make out alot but did hear some type of theatre music, thought that was kinda weird! Is this some sort of skip?

Hey Pacman......I was on channel 6 , some call it the Super Bowl because that where alot of the big radios play. When things get slow like they have been lately if theres any DX going on it will be heard on channel 6.
