Mike here. I am in Olympia WA, the very southern-most point of Puget Sound. Been a CB-A_Holic since 1974 where my first base was an SBE Cortez and a power pack. Big strapper, huh? Contrary to popular belief .....we do get glorious weather here and yes, we do get our share of the wet stuff as well, hence the webbing between the toes. Cobra 200 GTL DX (my Base) Galaxy 45MP (Sparkified) SWP General Lee Silver K Eagle, Sky Thumper, 636L Sky Thumper 450 Dave Made Base, A-99 Lots of other misc stuff!

As far as a home base unit ....I'm running a little Cobra Base w / a Radio Waves Double Bazooka. I need to get the Bazook A little higher up in the trees though to get a good signal. Ray here from Chicago, my first CB radio was K-40 back in 1985 after I receiving a speeding ticket in Georgia on the way down to Florida, had a radar detector but good ole Smokey turned off his radar and nailed me . I just got back into the CB hobby after driving out to Pennsylvania this past summer. The K-40 could receive but not transmit, so on the way back from Pennsylvania I purchased a Cobra 29LTD. This is what I have currently in my collection: RCI 2970DX, By Sparky Galaxy DX 979, By Sparky HR2600, tuned by Doc Cobra 29LTD Dale Earnhardt JR. WOW.... You guys have all the cool stuff!! Maybe one of these days I'll be able to upgrade from my K-Mart 23 Channel Mobile! (Don't laugh, K-Mart really did have their own brand of CB's in the 70's) Honestly, I really don't know what I have, personally. At home I have an old Yaesu FT-767GX hooked up to an IMAX-2000, a couple of VHF Radios. I have a huge collection of Radio Shack Communications Stuff (CB, Scanners, Shortwave)...I'm told it's the most complete collection of Radio Shack 2 Way Stuff in the country, but who knows. At the store we keep a Trusty HR-2510 on the bench for SSB, and a Galaxy DX-45MP to talk to the truckers on. I love radio, in all forms. ---------- Sparky

Hey guys(and gals).I'm new to this computer stuff ,but no stranger to cb's.This question is for those of you who have Cobra 200 GTL DX radios. How much power supply do I need to run this bad boy on high side? Also need to find how to wire my TUG-9 Silver Eagle mic to this radio. Now with that said, here is a little info on my equipment.Of course my base is going to be the Cobra 200.My mobile is a Voyage VR-9000 with a 5 pill competition series X-Force amp (Wizard Built) doing around 950 watts and an old school 102" fiberglass whip.My friends call my mobile the "Audio Monster".My home 20 is central Kentucky, and my skip numbers are 456 hillbilly mobile.

I also have a Cobra 18 WX ST II that I got from my dad for Christmas that got me hooked. I have a 102" whip on my truck. Also have an Astatic mic but don't use it, everyone says the best sounding mic I have is the stock cobra 18 mic.

I really enjoy this message board and a couple of other CB related sites. You probably know the ones. Awesome POLITE, curteous folks. Lots of good people. I have been using this one for quite a while and have watched it grow quite substantially. Al has a good thing going here. I used a program called PalTalk for IMessaging and my e-mail is causmik@comcast.net. I am not aaddict to messaging and I do not do jokes, cute stories and the likes. Northern Illinois, Whiteside County Got my first radio in,,,,,,,,,,, ???? early 70's. Craig mobile I think, then a Cobra 29, then a few more as each one died. Had a Hy Gain/HY Range IV base with a "Big Stick" [ like an Antron 99 ] then used a Super Scanner and the Hy Range IV until a few years ago. Got hooked up with Ebay,,,, then Sparky,, and madness started,,,, and continues. Can't tell ya' how many radios I got on the shelf. Some great,, some well,,, border line junk. I think my first Sparky radio was a Cobra 18 WXST II, it still booms ! I would get some piece a' @@@@ radio from Ebay,,,, send it Sparky, and he would fix it,,,, what a great guy !!! F250 Ford: Superstar SS 3900 ZX with a Texas Star DX 400 helper, [ Sparky Tuned ] on a 102 SS whip,, the best antenna around !! Pontoon boat: Norhtpoint NT 3HP [ Sparky Tuned ] on an 102 FG whip Base: Galaxy Saturn [ Sparky Tuned ] on a 5/8 Gr.PL. antenna Basement/shop radio Galaxy 2547 [ Sparky Tuned ] on the Sparky Special antenna In the Bull pen: Dale Earnhardt Cobra 29 [ Sparky Tuned ] Cobra 200 GTL [Sparky Tuned ] Ranger SS 3900 GHP [ Sparky Tuned ] Bunch of Sparky spring cleanup,,,,, old inventory,,,, radios, antennas,,, and "stuff" Weird stuff: 9 Cobra 29 23 channel radios GM [ General Motors ] 23 channel radio, Sparky Tuned, and he said he was a factory installed option from GM,,, I think he said in an Oldsmobile. 4 0r 5 Hy Range IV 23 ch base radios [ sentimental reasons] Several old base radios, and a bunch of mobiles,, I just pull them off the shelf, hook 'em up and holler at my buddies here. Drives them nuts as each radio performs differently. ---------- Bubba Top side of Illinois ! Channel 22

Mike in Olympia lmao...well, there's still room for an Eagle or two and a Robyn, but (being the nit picker I am) haven't found any yet in acceptable condition. They have to be unmolested and in pristine condition to be added to the "collection" in the closet. One of these days I'll get motivated and build a wall shelf to display them on. The 2995dx has been t&p & the 2980wx is radioactive. The 2000gtl & Excalibur are in stock trim as is everything in the closet...
